Bob Dylan brengt op 4 november a.s. de complete Basement tapes uit. Dat zijn in totaal 114 tracks uit die beroemde sessies uit 1967, waarvan er tot nu toe maar 24 uitkwamen.

De box gaat The Basement tapes complete: the bootleg series vol. 11 heten en bevat zes cd’s. Ook komen de nummes uit als set van drie lp’s.

Daarop staan onder meer alternatieve versies van Blowin’ in the wind en It ain’t me babe, covers van songs van Johnny Cash en Curtis Mayfield en minstens dertig tot nu toe onbekende songs.

Ook komt er een dubbel-cd uit The Basement tapes raw. Die bestaat uit de originele lp plus twaalf niet eerder uitgebrachte tracks.

Die 114 tracks komen van banden die door Band-lid Garth Hudson werden bewaard en ongeveer tien jaar door een fanatieke Dylan-verzamelaar werden gekocht.

Deze Jan Haust en Hudson zouden hebben samengewerkt bij de voorbereiding van de songs en Haust slaagde erin met Bob Dylan’s vertegenwoordigers een akkoord te sluiten over het uitbrengen ervan.

Dat gebeurt in hun huidige, niet–verbeterde staat en in de volgorde waarin ze zijn opgenomen.

In de toekomst zou er misschien nog niet eerder uitgebrachte songs kunnen uitkomen van de sessies van Blood on the tracks en er zou een documentaire worden gemaakt over de  Rolling Thunder Revue.

Dat  as een tournee die Dylan in 1975 maakte met Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, T Bone Burnett, Allen Ginsberg en Harry Dean Stanton.
