Nadat Billboard Prety things onine zette, een eerste song van singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters’ nieuwe album Blackbirds, blijkt dat je via website noisetrade haar vorige, Hello cruel World, tijdelijk in zijn geheel gratis kunt downloaden.
Het is onduidelijk waarom Peters tijdelijk voor Sint-Nicolaas speelt, maar misschien is dat om meer aandacht te krijgen voor het uitkomen van Blackbirds.
Ook verschenen inmiddels al de eerste recensies van dat album, dat overigens pas op 10 februari uitkomt.
De website Folk and tumble plaatste als een beoordeling per song en de Engelse folksite Three chords and the truth heeft ook al een recensie.
Uit beide maken wij gelukkig op, dat wij de releasedatum van Blackbirds met hoofdletters in onze agenda moeten noteren. De conclusie liegt er namelijk niet om, hoewel het opvallend is dat Folk and tumble Peters’ achternaam er fout in spelt, een scheve vergelijking trekt tussen een nummer van Peters’ vorige album Hello cuel World en dit nieuwe album als geheel en ook die songtitel fout heeft: ‘Springsteen has ‘Nebraska’; Peter’s has ‘Blackbirds’. 2012’s Woman at the Wheel is still firmly in the driving seat on the highway to success and ‘Blackbirds’ will ensure a long drive.’
Ook Three chords and the truth besluit in majeur: ‘BLACKBIRDS projects Gretchen Peters in top mode once again and lays out a newly sustained path of marvellous musical mystique.’
