Er waren al veel bootlegs van het optreden dat Elton John gaf op 29 mei 1979 in de Rossiya Hall in Moskou.

Dat kwam doordat de BBC het laatste concert in de reeks uitzond.

Op 24 januari 2020 komt het concert officieel uit als dubbel-cd, dubbel-lp en via de streamingdiensten van deze we wereld. Daarvoor maakte Bob Ludwig nieuwe masters van de originele banden van het concert van destijds

John promootte toen zijn album ‘A single man’ en werd geheel in stijl alleen begeleid door percussionist Ray Cooper.

Het was het eerste popalbum dat officieel uitkwam in de Sovjet Unie en daardoor al min of meer historisch.
