De muziek van Neil Young zal binnenkort weer op Spotify te horen zijn, zij het dat Young dat uit nood doet.
Hij moppert er dan ook lustig op los in een bericht op zijn website waarin hij die aankondiging doet.
De reden is dat de podcast van Joe Rogan inmiddels ook bij andere grote streamingdiensten als Apple en Amazon te horen sis en Young zegt hij zijn muziek daar ook wel vanaf zou kunnen halen, maar dat hij dan wel erg weinig luisteraars zou overhouden.
Daardoor gaat hij zijn muziek ook weer op Spotify ztten, al doet aan hij die muziekstreamer wel een oproep:
‘I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify, in sincere hopes that Spotify sound quality will improve and people will be able to hear and feel all the music as we made it.’
En passant deel hij nog een steek onder water uit door te schrijven dat zijn muziek ook op Qobuz en Tidal te vinden is en dat die ‘are all high res as well.’ en: ‘I hope all you millions of Spotify users enjoy my songs! They will now all be there for you except for the full sound we created.’
Tot slot heeft hij nog een keer een duidelijk advies voor Spotify: ‘Spotify, you can do it! Really be number one in all ways. You have the music and the listeners! Start with a limited hi res tier and build from there!’
