Zangeressen Taylor Swift en Beyoncé hebben allebei gedoneerd aan liefdadigheidsorganisaties die die gevolgen van de branden in Los Angeles bestrijden.
Swift schreef op Instagram Stories: ‘The fires in California have devastated so many families, and it’s been heartbreaking to see these stories unfold. So much suffering, loss and destruction. As so many people embark on some of the most challenging times of their lives, there are also many amazing organisations and groups banding together to help these communities rebuild.’
Daaronder zette ze een lijst van organisaties waaraan ze geld had overgemaakt met daarbij deze opmerking: ‘These are the organisations I’ve donated to. If you feel compelled or able to donate, please do.’
Zij doneerde onder meer aan 211 LA, California Community Foundation Fund, Habitat For Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation, MusiCares en Direct Relief.
Beyoncé heeft via haar BeyGOOD Foundation tweeënhalf miljoen euro overgemaakt.
Dat deed ze met deze woorden: ‘Los Angeles we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5million dollars.
The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires.’
